Adidas announces the closure of the Department of Wearable Sports Technology Development
The American section of the German company Adidas announced the closure of the development of wearable sports technologies without specifying the reasons, stressing that the employees will be transferred to work in other sections within the company.
The former statement says the company is no longer interested in developing wearable sports technologies and will focus on Runtastic and its e-shopping application, while collaborating with other companies such as Fitbit to develop new sports sensors, but will not be responsible for development alone anymore.
The company's plans are not yet known. However, the transition of smart wearable personnel to other departments means that all departments will understand deeply how these technologies work, and thus integrate their expertise in the sports field with technical considerations in mind.
