Do you complain that the sky where you live without stars or poor stars at night? From time to time you can see those pictures on the Internet for bright, starry skies, some of which are even exposed to the arms of our galaxy, the Milky Way! Did your bad luck get you to choose a blind spot to choose from for you ?!

Although the wonderful picture above is captured with the amazing details of our galaxy from here on Earth, you will probably not get it often if you try to capture it with the same technique you live in. It is because you live in a "polluted" city ... It is power to mask the faint weak light coming from the stars thousands of light years away!
So what you have to do to get great pictures similar to what you see on astronomical observation pages, other than having a good camera, exposure photography and color therapy, is to go to a dark place, really dark without pollution ... or what you call the "dark heaven gardens International Dark Sky Parks. "

On a clear dark night, the sky shines with millions of stars, drawing the brightest of them a glowing ribbon filling the sky's skyline. This multimillion-star band is really a small part of our galaxy that houses our solar system. Unfortunately, according to a recent study, 80% of the North American population, 60% of Europe and 42% of the African population can not see this spectacular scene for the same reason: pollution of the sky.
This is how the International Dark Sky Association was established to combat light pollution on the planet. There are so-called International Dark Sky Parks (IDSPs), which are like private celestial sanctuaries whose environment is dark and unpolluted, making it a nocturnal paradise. Only star observers, researchers, teachers, and other nature and astronomy enthusiasts - and best of all, they are open to all without exception!

There are nearly 50 dark international sky parks around the world, and the United States has more than 12 of them alone, with popular attractions such as the Grand Canyon, the Death Valley and the New Big Bend National Park. Again, any place can be nominated as an international dark sky park when there is no visible pollution, but of course this is not the easy task at all.

For this reason, it is unfortunate that in the Arab world, or even in the entire Middle East, there is no official international dark sky park except in Israel only in the Ramon Crater, a desert valley located in the Negev Desert, south of historic Palestine. In Egypt, for example, thousands of Matrouh, Qena, Toshka, Sohag, Al-Kharja, the Mediterranean Mountains and the Wadi Al-Whittan reserve in Fayoum are meant to enjoy spectacular views of the stars and our galaxy by sky; the amazing image we have seen At the beginning of the article is the sky in the desert of Fayoum in Egypt in fact (© Ibrahim al-Awadhi)! Why do not you find these places on the IDA map? Because no one has come forward to classify them, of course!
First, we have to differentiate between the International Dark Sky Garden IDSP and the International Dark Sky Conservation IDSR and the Dark International Darkness IDSS. The International Dark Sky Garden (IDSP) is any land whose skies enjoy an exceptional or distinctive quality of night stars and a naturally protected natural environment for entertainment, study, education, and cultural and environmental education. These lands may represent public or private property subject to the permanent or final consent of the owner or owner of the land to allow the public to enter them and take the necessary measures to maintain its status as such.

International Dark Sky Reserve IDSR - IDA International Dark Sky Reserve has the same specifications as the International Dark Sky Garden, but what makes it a protected, not a garden, is its presence within an urban community surrounding and protecting it. If you see the list of dark international gardens of the sky you will find them in places far away from the building in a way that protects them from light pollution, while the dark sky reserves fall within the urban space, which contains in its heart a site that meets the minimum of the dark sky while applying the surrounding corridors standards to maintain the darkness and quality Heavenly vision in the sanctuary. There are 11 dark sky protectors around the world, and there is only one dark sky reserve in Africa located in Namibia.
Then we come to the IDA Dark Sky Sanctuary. The two former types share most of the features, except that it is located in a remote area far from urban gatherings, so there are no threats to the quality of night vision in its dark skies. The isolation of these sites is not allowed to be opened or made available to the public in general, which prevents their classification as an international dark sky park and makes it closer to a sanctuary or sanctuary that many people do not touch. For this reason, these sites are ideal for deep space observatories, and officially so far there are only 3 of them classified as dark international skies IDSS in New Zealand, USA and Chile.

As you can see, rating criteria for monitoring and observing stars as a park or a protected area may look like a dark dark sky that requires a lot of effort and laws, but in fact it is not impossible. Do you have places to find worthy of a garden or dark sky reserve in your country? The good news here is that the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) opens the door to nomination more than once a year to add new dark sky gardens to the world map, and this year 2017 will remain until November 27 to register and nominate new places.
To filter a site as an international dark sky park, you must measure the light level with a certified scale, as well as visual evidence of night sky imagery in other procedures. So if you're interested in watching and photographing stars and believe that one or more sites deserve to be registered as a park, protected area or an international dark sky sanctuary, I invite you to register via the following links:
